2 new songs!
All of the guitars bass and drums have been tracked for a new 7" to be released on Trust No One Recordings.
One song called "mortuary" is a slow hellhammering katatoniac vibe. Also features a rather length guitar solo. VOX ARE NEXT!
The other tune "laboratory" is an extension of "pestilence & peril" and a mix of ancient thralldom and heavy metal beats. Lots of riffs. VOX ARE NEXT!
This recording is already way better than the first album!

short update...
Writing has begun for the next record! A new demo version of soon to be titled song has been created. The material seems to be going in a more older thrash/trash metal tradition mixed with crustdoom and of course, the strange esoteric underbelly of the beast. Organic old school evil mixed with the subtle subconscious assualt that has permeated all of thralldoms material. I plan to make the vocals louder on the next one [haha live and learn] and more varied. Judging by this one tune, we have already improved greatly since the first album. More updates as it occurs... 156651

a few reviews of pestilence & peril...

"Black ambient drone metal is really what I want to call this . The Howling Wind is starts off were Thralldom died. There is a very spacial atmosphere about this release as whole. The guitars come very much from were bands like Thorn and Satyricon are at now. I would call it post black metal but its still very bleak and black in nature. The open ended feeling on the drums as the avant rock element and the almost forboding basslines that seem to want to be a guitar but just boom to much to be so. The vocals to these ears a mix of Neurosis and Legion of Marduk and work oh so well here cold and grim but with the passion needed to keep it all going. There are some very dark doomy moments here but being that this is the main force behind " Unearthly Trance" that makes perfect sense. There is a lot of drone noise and unfiltered ambient tones mixed in the record that add an other world feel to it all as well. The Howling Wind is not something you will hear a lot as they are trying to be what they are THEMSELVES!!!! Honour and respect that as today that is a rarity...."

"Killusion continues his lyrical evisceration of the crown in his latest vehicle, The Howling Wind. Long gone is the apparitional ambience of Thralldom’s last record. Pestilence & Peril begins deep in the colon of woe; “nuance” and “subtlety” are quick casualties to such roiling rage and power. Once the shit subsides, Killusion and drummer Parasitus Rex are off to the races. A few mid-paced stomps are thrown in here and there; extended muscular thrash reigns supreme. There’s lots of namedropping one could do here, but that accomplishes nothing. Nor does it really say anything about the music other than the stubborn fact that it’s shamelessly derivative. To wit: it’s impossible for this stuff to be anything but derivative; it’s all in the way it’s presented. Darkthrone sure as fuck isn’t rocking like this anymore; admittedly, few are. The goal? –To outplay these fuckers. –To take influence and smash it under your boot-heels. Kill yr Idols sounds like a sweet plan, but only Killusion’s bands and few others seem to be able to pull it off. Everyone else should probably unplug and go home. Seriously. Highly recommended."

"THE HOWLING WIND - Complete Work On Debut Album
THE HOWLING WIND, the post-THRALLDOM venture conjured up by Killusion (also mastermind of UNEARTHLY TRANCE) have completed work on their debut album, entitled “Pestilence & Peril”...
Taking off where Thralldom's swansong (A Shaman Steering The Vessel Of Vastness) left off, The Howling Wind sees Killusion take his black metal pedigree to a new level of polarization. In what will stand as one of the most prominent U.S. black metal albums to be released this year, Pestilence & Peril sees Killusion (along with drummer Parasitus Nex) revive the old-school ways of pure and raw black metal, the way it must be done through riffs of dirge-like hypnosis, old-school HELLHAMMER-ish/Morbid Tales era CELTIC FROST histrionics, and virulent punishing vibes that conjure up the aura of classic DARKTHRONE. Thematically, Pestilence & Peril will indeed touch upon such themes as the apocalypse and the inevitable spiritual downfall and social decay in the state of America today, all told from an occult oriented perspective.
To be released via Profound Lore Records on October 30th, the tracklisting for “Pestilence & Peril” goes as follows:
1. Projections
2. Sin Continuum
3. Virulence 33
4. Southaven
5. Stealth Eugenics
6. Forced Into The Pits Of Technology
7. Deadlands
8. The Inevitable Conclusion"
